The AXXIS Anniversaryshow is over ... unfortunately:-((
.... and AXXIS have given us an extraordinary, unforgettable and unique evening! We have received so many positive responses that we want to say THANXX to everybody who made this evening possible. For all those who didn't come to the show, we can only say: "You've missed a great show!" :-) Musicwise the setlist was outstanding. During the show two big screens have given us an impression of the beginnings of AXXIS from 1984 until today. We could see lots of interesting details of the band history..hopefully they will put everything on a DVD in the future!!:-)
The program:
AXXIS have divided their program into 3 parts.
In part 1 songs of the latest cd's were played, which leads on slowly into the past. We were very pleased about the first guest: Kuno Niemeyer, who played "When the Sun Goes Down" with AXXIS on stage. On the screens unreleased footages of Kuno were shown while they played together.
The second guest was Kosta Zafiriou who drummed "Wind in the night". Later on he mentioned that this was the first time that he'd shared the stage with AXXIS together. They've never played a song together before even if they knew each other for years.
After about 50minutes AXXIS left the stage for their friend and comedian "THE OBEL". He 've had the audience directly under control and offered us a great 20 minute contrast-program with a lot of fun. The atmosphere was wonderful.
As AXXIS came on the stage to perform their acoustic set a murmur went through the crowd. All the musicians had put on their best suits. An unusual image:-) But it looked great and fit perfectly in the acousticset atmosphere. While the band played "Little War" Bernhard took Gudrun from Dorsten on the stage. She did her best to play the "Heavy Metal tambourine ". And again Bernhard has given us an impression of his great entertainer abilities....the crowd was totally excited.
After the acoustic set was done, AXXIS walked off the stage. Now the drawing of the two fanpakages and the AXXIS guitar took place. Christiane Wille moderated this with Thomas "Harry" Weinkauf, the famous policemen from Bochum, known from the SAT1 TV serie TOTO & HARRY.
As AXXIS wanted to go back on the stage they were stopped by a longtime fan club member called Marcus Srnec. In his hands he hold a selfmade big picture for AXXIS's 20 Anniversary with the signatures of the fan club members. The band was visibly touched and surprised.
Now the 3rd part of the program started. And an unbelievable firework with old songs was played by the band. One hit after the other. It seems to be that a timemachine was driving faster and faster into the past For "Brother Moon" AXXIS invited Dirk Brand to play along with them.. The set was great!
One highlight was the appearance of Walter Pietsch. While he was performing "Stay don't leave me" with the band - surrounded by an extensive solo- you could see some tears in the eyes of some people.A very emotional moment for everybody !
Another interesting moment was a short medley of 2 very, very old songs called Hot Love & Kill or Die. These songs are still unreleased and were written before the official AXXIS career has started.
The appearance of Rolf Stahlhofen, formerly known as the AXXIS tour manager(1989) , was another great event. After Rolf's period with the German musicians called "Die Söhne Mannheims" he's worked for his own solo career in Germany. This gig with AXXIS was his first metal experience. It was amazing to watch them during their powerful "voice-battle"in between two different musicstyles.. . the people were totally flipping out during their performance.
After two encore blocks and - all in all - 3 hours 42 minutes showtime this unique and outstanding event called "AXXIS - 20 Years ANNIVERSARYSHOW " at the 13th December 2009 in the Zeche Bochum./Germany was over.
All what's left are millions of wonderful impressions, images, experiences and emotions we'll keep in our minds for a long time .
Dear AXXIS ... let's go for the next 20 years: !!-))
